Q) Everyone has that aha! moment in their life when they figure out what they really wanted to do as a career. What was the first sign that you were meant for the events and meeting industry?
A) I had the aha moment soon as I saw the ad on Indeed.com. I saw the Receptionist position for an Events company and I thought, wow, what’s not to like? Working in an environment planning for celebrations, joyous occasions, festivities, this is for ME.
Q) RVE’s love for Austin is well known. What’s your very favorite thing about Austin?
A) My very favorite thing about Austin is the mix of an urban landscape amidst all the various pockets of gorgeous nature trails, Barton Springs in the heart of the city etc. I LOVE the Summer night swims at Barton Springs.
Q) Nothing’s perfect – not even our beloved city. If money and time were no object, what’s the one thing you would change about Austin?
A) If money and time were no object, I would see that funding is available for more Affordable Housing in the city. Some sectors of the community have been forced out of central and central/east Austin due to the overwhelming gentrification. It makes the city less interesting when the diversity of it is reduced.
Q) Everyone says they’re detail oriented. But what secret trait about you really demonstrates your commitment to order and details? (for example, do you separate cold and non-cold items before you check out at the grocery store, or do you color code your socks?)
A) As a matter of fact, I do separate perishable and non-perishable items when bagging my groceries but I think where my attention to detail is probably best seen when it comes to my closet. It is a nice sized walk-in closet but I have to pack my clothes up according to season because there is simply not enough space to have everything out. I have my Summer stuff packed away in storage containers right now to allow for the Fall and Winter attire.
