While Red Velvet Events is not able to accommodate every request we receive for free event-planning services, we do work pro bono as often as we can to help local nonprofits. We believe strongly in helping to strengthen and empower our central Texas community because such efforts benefit all of us in the long run.
With this in mind, we leant our event-planning expertise free of charge to three different nonprofits in 2013:
Back On My Feet.
This nationwide nonprofit, which helps homeless individuals restart their lives through running and goal setting, recently opened a chapter in Austin. For their launch event (a breakfast gala), RVE focused on the idea of a race, using a custom cling representing a start line and tennis shoes as the stage’s backdrop. For the table centerpieces, we decorated branches with baby tennis shoes. Faux runners’ bibs served as table numbers. The end result of this fun, creative event: we donated over $16K in services for the event and organization.
National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) Austin’s Eat the Heat.
Every year, we are proud to assist with NACE’s annual fundraiser in some way, which celebrates Austin’s culinary stars and raises funds through a traveling cocktail party, a Chef’s Showcase and a silent auction. In 2013, the Eat the Heat event raised almost $19,000 for NACE culinary scholarships, the Foundation of NACE and the nonprofit The Smile Never Fades. We’re looking forward to seeing if we can top that number in 2014!
University of Texas Elementary School.
RVE is working hard to plan a December 10 fundraising event for this no-cost charter elementary school in east Austin. While the event has already been very successful in the past, we’re working with our partners to ensure that this event benefits the school – and its students – as much as possible.
We’re honored to be able to assist these organizations with their fundraising efforts. Next year, we hope to continue our level of philanthropy – if not increase it. Here’s to great things done in 2013, and thank you Austin for giving us so many opportunities to give back.
