Q) Everyone has that aha! moment in their life when they figure out what they really wanted to do as a career. What was the first sign that you were meant for the events and meeting industry?
A) I’ve always kind of been the planner when it came to events or trips for family & friends, but it wasn’t until my first internship in events that I really considered pursuing it as a career. But after my first event, even after an exhausting 16 hour day, and coming home covered in mud after a rainy wedding day, I was totally hooked! I fell in love with the process of planning with a client, and then seeing our vision come to life.

Q) How did you learn about Red Velvet Events?
A) When searching for opportunities in Austin one name just kept coming up – Red Velvet Events! After asking around and hearing nothing but great things, and seeing how much fun the team was having on the RVE Instagram I knew I had to work here!

Q) RVE’s love for Austin is well known. What’s your very favorite thing about Austin?
A) It’s so hard to pick just one thing, but I’d have to go with the food scene – I love that there are so many fun and different places to try! I always ask people what their favorite restaurants are and keep a running list so that I always have recommendations of great places to try when I’m out. And the fact that I can get tacos for every meal is definitely a bonus.

Q) Nothing’s perfect – not even our beloved city. If money and time were no object, what’s the one thing you would change about Austin?
A) I’m sure everyone says this, but the traffic! It’s amazing how fast Austin is growing, but I would love maybe just a few extra roads to help accommodate all the people that come with the growth.

Q) Everyone says they’re detail oriented. But what secret trait about you really demonstrates your commitment to order and details? (for example, do you separate cold and non-cold items before you check out at the grocery store, or do you color code your socks?)
A) My trip planning binders are legendary. They not only include the basics like itinerary and reservation information, but they also include:
– An extended itinerary of additional points of interest (including food & beverage) in each area that we’ll be in so that if we find ourselves with some free time we already have ideas on what to do
– A ton of information about where we are going, where we are staying, and each activity we’re doing
– Fun facts & trivia of things to be on the lookout for
And of course, the cherry on top – a custom-made luggage tag and themed coloring sheets to help keep us occupied on the plane. You could say I take vacations pretty seriously.
