We love to turn our clients’ event dreams into reality. Whether you’re envisioning the biggest party of your life, the most elegant experience ever, or the conference that will set your clients’ hearts fluttering, Red Velvet Events is here to make it happen for you.

But we have to confess: We’ve got our own secret event dreams, too! When you work at a creative agency and spend your days producing thoughtful and intentional storytelling experiences, it’s easy to spend your off-the-clock time thinking about what kind of event would make you personally go gaga.

We asked Jason Sick, CMP and Christa SanFilippo about their secret visions for the most fun event ever to plan and attend. Read on for their true confessions about dream event planning.

Let’s make your creative agency dreams come true, Jason and Christa! What kind of event would be your absolute dream to work on?

Jason: Currently, my dream event would be one where we blend two different eras together in a way that makes it hard to tell which era you’re in. I love the idea of blending the past with the present in a way that feels nostalgic yet familiar.

Specifically, I want to do a disco-themed event that feels very late 1970s but also has modern and current elements. I personally think we are in the middle of a modern-day disco resurgence. Dance music tops the charts. The dance club scene is thriving in places like Las Vegas, New York, and Miami. Bell bottoms and platform heels are still everywhere.

At my dream event, I envision the music blending between disco hits and current hits in a way that keeps you guessing when one genre of music will stop and the other will start. I see a color palette of gold, silver, and black, with fantastic lighting and production. I’ll stop there with the details, so I don’t give too much away before I actually get to do this.

Christa: Over the years, my dream event has changed, as we are constantly getting inspired by current event trends, travel, and the culture around us. Right now, if I had to pick, I would say my dream event would be out of this world! I’m envisioning elements of inspiration from the laser light show at EPCOT Center in Walt Disney World and the projection mapping at the Magic Kingdom, combined with a Cirque de Soleil show in Las Vegas and featuring surprise hologram performances by some of your favorite Vegas headliners. I love when guests enter an event with high expectations, yet we still find ways to keep them so surprised that they walk away talking about it for years to come.

I’m envisioning people arriving at a surprise location and being greeted with cocktails, food stations, décor, and entertainment but with no venue in sight, as it would be projected to blend in with its surroundings. Once everyone arrives, a five-minute show with unique building projections takes place, building the excitement of the event and revealing the building itself with vibrant colors and designs. Once the attendees enter, they find surprise hologram performances by artists like Lady Gaga and Elton John in different areas of the space. Upon their departure later that evening, they exit to find an elaborate laser light/firework show lighting up the sky, ending the night with a bang!

Have you ever worked on an event in real life that had these elements?

Jason: Not yet, but my fingers are crossed that a client who wants this event comes along soon!

Christa: I have had the opportunity to implement video projections into events and have worked with amazing headliner entertainment, but nothing to a scale like this before – yet.

Budget-wise, what would it take to make an event like this turn from a dream into a reality?

Jason: That’s a good question. In my opinion, every event concept I develop isn’t successful unless the integrity of the concept could be pulled off in multiple budget categories. In other words, I create event experiences to be scalable for different budgets. For the disco/modern event I mentioned: Before I would ever pitch it to a client, I would ensure that I had a vision of how it could be executed not only at their budget level, but also below and above. Extra budget can appear unexpectedly at times, and budgets can also be cut at times, which is why I always remain flexible and design events that still maintain the spirit of the initial concept and design, regardless of the budget level. Long story short: Red Velvet Events can work with your budget to make your event a huge success!

Christa: An event at this scale with all of the details I described would entail a relatively high budget, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done effectively with a more conservative budget. We have found that even with a scaled-back budget, we are still able to plan events with our dream concepts for our clients and their attendees. We start off thinking big and not allowing cost to be an obstacle. Once we know what we want and have a concept in mind, we work to see what a must-have is and how we can scale everything down in different ways to fit within the budget. Within reason, anything is possible – we can figure out a way to use our magic, contacts and make it happen!
