As event planners, we know the value of being prepared. If you have ever worked with us onsite, you have probably seen the giant red toolboxes we wheel around. Ever wonder what is actually inside of them? Our emergency kits hold over a hundred items, ranging from tools we use multiple times every program, to odds and ends that will save us from the most random of situations. Here are a few of the most important items we never fail to show up onsite without.

  • Scissors (our #1 used item from our kits!)
  • Batteries – AA and AAA
  • Bottle opener and wine corkscrew
  • Door stopper
  • Cotton balls, Q-tips
  • Flashlight, large and small
  • Box cutter
  • Long handled lighters (unlit candles are not a good look)
  • Measuring tape
  • Paper towels and baby wipes
  • Black tablecloth
  • Extension cord and power strip
  • Flash drive (pro-tip: have a copy of your speaker’s presentations downloaded)
  • Zip ties, large and small
  • Sewing kit
  • Stain remover
  • Playing cards (you never know when you will need some entertainment!)
  • Safety pins
  • Tools: hammer, screwdriver, wrench, nails, pliers
  • Gum and mints
  • Portable phone chargers and cords
  • Spray Deodorant (load-in makes you sweaty, okay?)
  • Mini first-aid kit
  • Every type of tape imaginable (clear, double sided, mounting, gaff, duct, packing, caution)
  • Pens, highlighters, sharpies, pencils

You never know what may go wrong onsite, and running errands to pick up basic tools is not a good use of your time or your client’s. While our emergency kits may border on excessive, we would rather be overprepared than under any day! What items do you bring onsite that you can not live without? Let us know!
